History
Magnetic Solutions was founded in 1994 by a team of scientists and engineers from Trinity College-Dublin. The Company’s vision was to incorporate significant advances in magnetic materials and design approaches into a range of new process tools for the hard disk drive and semiconductor industries.
Based on that initial vision, and the exceptional performance of our products, Magnetic Solutions has grown to be the leading supplier of magnetic annealing tools in the world. Our products also support a broad range of emerging applications, including development of embedded high frequency passive components, semiconductor logic, magnetic media, silicon for solar photovoltaic’s and a range of other materials processing solutions.
With over 50 tools in service, Magnetic Solutions products are used in the production of more than 70% of all disk drives and magneto-electronic devices in the computer and semiconductor industries. Data from customers regularly show equipment availability of 98% in volume production, a level of reliability unmatched by any of our competitors. Our tools also operate over wider temperature ranges and higher magnetic fields than competitors’ products, providing the capability for customers to anneal a greater variety of devices and products.
Magnetic Solutions is also well positioned for the future. The work we're doing with world-renowned research labs and leading companies will result in products that address a diverse range of demands in areas such as consumer electronics, computing, clean energy and power management. Success in each of these areas is underpinned by ground breaking scientific developments and product engineering that Magnetic Solutions is proud to support and contribute to.
The company’s headquarters is located in a 20,000 square foot facility in Dublin, Ireland where we design and build all of our products. We are ISO 9000 Certified, and construct our products in a Class 10,000, E47 Semi Standard Clean Room. The majority of our employees are experienced engineers and scientists, who have spent an average of seven years with Magnetic Solutions and ten years in our industry. Seventy five percent of our employees have degrees in engineering or physics.
