Dublin, IRELAND, 28th September 2010

Magnetic Solutions Limited today announced that its MRT5000 high field annealing tool had been selected by the Data Storage Institute (DSI) of Singapore to support their mission to enable production of new Non-Volatile Memory Technologies.

The MRT5000 tool to be supplied to DSI is configured to process large batches of 300mm and 200mm wafers, at magnetic fields up to 5 Tesla and temperatures up to 600 oC. The MRT5000 tool provides high throughput and uses the most reliable superconducting magnet technology available for production use in the semiconductor industry. Unique features of the tool include its interoperability for different wafer sizes and ability to process wafers automatically in different orientations for MRAM and STT-RAM architectures.

Dave Hurley CEO of Magnetic Solutions, said today that “we are very pleased that the outstanding technology and engineering team of Magnetic Solutions, has been selected to support DSI in the development of new materials and processes to improve the storage performance of future memory technologies. We understand that the MRT5000 tool and related tools supplied by other vendors will be used to develop and verify memory designs by DSI researchers and their partners. We welcome this important initiative by DSI and are delighted to offer our support”.
