Major Disk Drive Manufacturing Company

During 2009 we were contacted by a major disk drive manufacturing company seeking a high field (5 Tesla) magnetic annealing solution, capable of supporting their planned conversion to 200mm wafer size for volume manufacturing. The key project parameters were the absolute reliability of the tool solution in a volume manufacturing environment, commitment to meeting stringent process specifications and our speed of product delivery.

The project solution was based on our proven MRT5000 high field annealing tool, configured for the customer’s production POR requirements. The first tool was delivered and qualified on the customer’s site in less than 6 months, meeting all specification commitments. Operation since install has exceeded the tool availability metrics of >97% with negligible down time since being accepted into production.
