Leading National Research Institute in Spintronics
During 2010 we were challenged by a leading spintronics research institute to deliver a magnetic annealing tool solution that had a number of novel features, required to support their development roadmap. The tool was required to process in-plane MRAM structures and STT-RAM perpendicular designs, while also to be interoperable for multiple wafer sizes. In meeting these requirements we also had to adhere to stringent particle and contamination requirements which precluded any mechanical intervention by the operator and/or rotation of the wafer cassette.
Our engineering team excelled at this challenge and provided a solution that met all of these customer requirements in a compact and highly cost effective process solution. This technology has subsequently been patented by Magnetic Solutions and has been deployed on a number of our tool solutions for spintronic applications.
This is an excellent example of collaborative development with a major research customer, leading to the development of technology that meets the industries future needs.
